The 200 acre plantation is home to some of the oldest cultivars of coffee, pepper and cardamom in India. At Old Kent Estates, you can experience a day in the life of a coffee planter - right from inspecting the workers pruning the bushes and picking the berries, and take a tour to the Pulper house along with our friendly estate manager. You can also enjoy the treks that a world-renowned mountaineer has set for our guests to explore.
The ecology of Coorg is diverse and encompasses a wide variety of plant and animal species. Marvel at the lush rainforest vegetation under the canopy of large timber trees such as teak, rosewood and mahogany, as well as some majestic old-growth trees that have stood there for centuries.

Discover how Coffee is cultivated in one of the country's oldest plantations, Old Kent Estates ( This coffee plantation, a heritage property established by a British planter in the 1800's, is spread over 200 acres of still flourishing coffee-bushes and pepper vines, surrounded by spectacular forested hills of Coorg, known as The Scotland of India.
The “Kent” variety of Arabica was one of the earliest cultivars of coffee that was once grown on the plantation, from which the property derives its name. Today, the carefully selected Arabica & Robusta bushes grow under the two-tier canopy of impressive rosewoods, silver oaks and cluster-fig trees, some of which have stood there for centuries. As an environmentally responsible enterprise, Old Kent Estates ensures that the fragile eco system is sustained and supported. The coffee is shade grown (bird friendly) and UTZ certified.
The coffee that is grown here is exported to Europe which has been recognized by the International Institute of Coffee Tasters (IIAS) in Italy, and has won a Gold Medal in an international cupping competition in the Espresso category.
